Actress Raima Sen eagerly awaits the release of her Hindi film `Mirch`

raima-sen

Basking in the glory of her widely appreciated performance in Aparna Sen`s film `The Japanese Wife`, actress Raima Sen eagerly awaits the release of her Hindi film `Mirch` directed by Vinay Shukla who had introduced her to Bollywood with `Godmother`.

"This is my second film with Vinay Shukla, who had directed me in Godmother and I have lots of hopes for Mirch because of the treatment," Raima told reporters.

Of the four women-centric stories in the film, Sen will turn up in two, opposite Shreyas Talpade and Rajpal Yadav with each story sharing a common humorous strand.

Although Raima enjoys a superb track record in Bengali cinema the 30-year-old actress insists that she is not averse to any substantial commercial Bollywood project with a good
script and competent directors.

"Look, I am open to commercial films, For every `Godmother`, `Chokher Bali`, `Daman`, I have done `Parineeta`, `Honeymoon Travels` and `Manorama Six Feet Under`. I cannot be
typecast for one type of roles only," Raima, grand daughter of legendary actress Suchitra Sen and daughter of film diva Moon Moon Sen, said.

"I am ready to mould my image, I am ready to essay a role if that interests me. But certainly the offer has to come to me," Raima said.

The actress, who is being appreciated for her role of a widow `Sandhya` in `The Japanese Wife`, said that it was one of the most complex roles of her life as it was a challenge to bring out the understated performance and reflect the blank, matured and calm persona of the character.

She plays the mother of an eight-year-old boy, who mostly keeps silent, but lives like a shadow in the life of a village school teacher Snehamoy, played by Rahul Bose, despite not having any manifest relationship with him.

"I remember I was asked by Aparna Sen to get the expressions right, the look of a lowly placed widow in a rural area, to develop her body language. I also attended a workshop
which helped. I am happy that Sen liked my role," Raima said.

Referring to her on-screen chemistry with Rahul Bose Raima says that the actor is someone who she is very comfortable to work with.

"We had shared screen space in Anuranan by Aniruddha Roy Choudhury. I guess we vibe well. He is such a wonderful co-actor, so very natural and spontaneous," she said.

"While I would like to do more films with Rinamashi (Aparna Sen), I have already been associated with a lot of works of Rituparno who similarly extracts intense performance
from his actors," she said.

Raima, who has worked with filmmaker-actor Rituparno Ghosh in `Antarmahal` and `Khela` besides `Chokher Bali` also has a special cameo in his `Sunglass`.

Asked about `Nouka Dubi`, Rituparno`s next Tagore film, Raima explained though it features both her and sister Riya Sen, they would not be sharing the frame.

"Our roles are diverse, but I am happy to be in the same project with my sister. This is our first film together," Raima said.

The actress is also set to share the screen with Deepti Naval and Rituparno in upcoming film `Asamapt`.

"While my role is that of an art director in a company, Rituparno enacts the creative head. Deepti Naval is the mother of a dead child who is the only link among three of us," she says without divulging any other detail.

Salman Khan has launched a nationwide hunt for unsung heroes

Salman Khan-2

Apparently inspired by Aamir Khan, Bollywood star Salman Khan has launched a nationwide hunt for unsung heroes as he turns 44 Sunday to connect with the masses and also promote his forthcoming period film "Veer".

The hunt - for young men and women who have performed heroic deeds which the nation doesn’t know about - is one more effort by the actor in bridge-building and improving his image.

"Lately Salman has been going out of his way to connect with the masses. The idea to launch a contest on his birthday to search for unrecognised heroes came from Aamir Khan’s recent connect-with-masses Bharat Darshan which he undertook as part of the promotion for ’3 Idiots’," said a source close to the actor.

"People close to Salman advised him to find a similar point of connectivity with the common man for Salman’s forthcoming film ’Veer’. And what better occasion to show his affinity to the masses than his birthday?"

Confirming Salman’s plans to search and celebrate the lives of unsung heroes from all over the country, "Veer" producer Vijay Galani told IANS: "You’ve heard correctly. Salman is launching a contest to find real-life unsung heroes.

"Since he has played the hero so often on screen, he feels real-life heroes deserve to be brought out of anonymity. We’ll be going to the remotest corners of India to select these unknown heroes. Finally one of them will be given the ’Veer’ cup personally by Salman at a function in Mumbai."

The much-talked about film is about the bravery of a Pindari soldier and speaks of bravery exemplifying the courage of every oppressed Indian fighting for justice and independence. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film features Salman in never seen before avatar along with newcomer Zarine Khan.

Former Miss UK Lisa Lazarus too plays an important role in the film that also stars Mithun Chakraborty and Jackie Shroff along with Sohail Khan and Bharat Dabholkar.

Amitabh Bachchan wants his voice back

amitabh-bachch1

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan is almost synonymous with his baritone voice. There was a time when All India Radio rejected his voice because they thought it wasn’t appealing enough.

But now, the voice has become the source of livelihood for several mimic artists. His unique voice is copied by advertisers to endorse products in ads and telecalling promotions. In the past, Big B has never given a serious thought on this issue. But now, the actor wants to copyright his voice so that the misuse stops.

The Megastar said that he was thinking about employing the laws of the country to prevent misuse of his voice. A few other actors too have done this in the past.

If Big B takes this step seriously then you wouldn’t hear mimicry artistes imitating his voice on their shows.

shahid-kapur1

Shahid joins an elite club of A-listers who love to flaunt their fabulous machines. After Salman Khan, John Abraham, Uday Chopra and Sanjay Gupta, Shahid Kapur has become the latest entrant into the biker boys club in Bollywood. Bipasha Basu invites John for Durga puja to her town

bipasha_john1

In her own words, actress Bipasha Basu took actor-beau John Abraham to her hometown in Kolkata seven years ago, when they were just a year-old in their relationship. The star couple are once again Kolkata- bound for some family time with Bipasha’s parents, sisters -Bidisha and Vijayeta, and her extended family for Durga puja. The actor this time is looking forward to it for more than one reason.

“It’s my mother’s birthday on Nabami (October 16), and I’m planning to give her a surprise. I’m also dying to see my niece (Bidisha’s three-year-old daughter), who I’ve not seen for a long time. Yes, it is going to be one big family reunion,” says Bipasha.

“Last time when I went with John it was pandemonium.”

The only thing that she misses about not celebrating Durga puja in Mumbai is not being able to spend time with her friend and actor Rani Mukerji at the Durga puja held by her family (organised by the North Bombay Sarbojonin Durga Puja Charitable Trust and supported by DNA).

“Attending the family puja organised by the Mukerji clan is a tradition that I’ve followed even when I was a model. It used to be the closest to my house. It’s around this time that I became friends with Rani and got close to the family. I have some fondest memories of the Durga puja there, after I moved to Mumbai. I am a regular there, and it has always kept me in touch with my roots,” she says.

I am not on Twitter or any social networking site says Asin

asin-photos1

Those who have been tweeting Asin on Twitter or sending messages to her on other social networking sites like Facebook or Orkut, here is an eye-opener.

The Ghajini gal is not on any of these sites. Rather it’s the imposters who have taken on her name and post messages regularly to fool gullible browsers.

"I am not on Twitter. There are some fake profiles and people actually believe that it’s me but that’s not really me. I am not on Twitter or Orkut or any social networking site. May be in future but I am not on it right now,” Asin is quoted as saying by a news agency.

Perhaps it’s high time she joined the web world.

Salman Khan rocks party

sallu11

Salman Khan’s ‘Being Human’ show at HDIL-India Couture Week was a big success with Bollywood stars like Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji and Sushmita Sen bringing alive the bygone era on the ramp.

This innovative and creative show was preceded by the screening of a short audio-visual on the particular period accompanied with dance performances.

Preity Zinta kick started the ramp walk in a red knee-length dress representing 1920s. She was followed by Katrina Kaif who represented 1930s in a long red gown. Then, Rani Mukherji walked the ramp in a black velvet choli and white lehenga, bringing alive the elegance of the 1940s. The next decade was depicted by sexy Bipasha Basu in a short black outfit. Karisma Kapoor draped in a red saree brought out the rock and roll glamour of 1960s. Sushmita Sen came up with the spirit of 1970s in a multi-coloured kaftan top and golden mini skirt. Priyanka Chopra was dressed in a white baby-doll dress to represent the silver screen`s glam girls of the 1980s. Kareena came across in a smart and sexy black power suit depicting the women of 1990s.

However, the man to steal the show from these gorgeous women was Salman Khan who wore red trousers and a black trench coat with glares and walked the ramp with a smile.

Aamir refused to work on Amol’s next film

aamir1

The creative efforts of Aamir Khan and Amol Gupte had given us a sensitive film like Taare Zameen Par. But if the buzz is to be believed, Aamir refused to work on Amol’s next film. Rumours suggest that scriptwriter and actor Amol approached Aamir for a film. It was a subject close to Amol’s heart which he felt only Aamir could do justice to.

Our source said, “Amol met Aamir recently and the two even had detailed discussions on the subject as the actor heard Amol out patiently. “Apparently, the subject dealt with children and issues concerning them. Aamir felt the plot was very similar to what they had done in Taare Zameen Par. Though Aamir has great regard for Amol as a story teller, the actor felt that he would be getting repetitive in the film so he politely turned him down,” said our source.

It may be known that initially Amol Gupte was Taare Zameen Par’s director. But differences between him and Aamir made the latter take over as the film’s director.

Katrina Kaif visits Haridwar confidently

Hot-Katrina-Kaif1

Bollywood’s barbie doll, Katrina Kaif, is not just beautiful by her looks, the actress has an unfolded religious side to her which lends her a purity of heart, rarely seen in star struck celebrities. Recently, the actress took some time off from the hectic shooting schedule of Yash Raj’s ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan,’ which is being shot in Chandigarh, Dehradun, and Mussourie, and headed to Haridwar for a holy dip in the river Ganga.

Rumor has it that Kaif’s visit to the holy shrine was kept a secret affair while she traveled with her personal entourage to avoid any security hassles. Katrina takes a holy dip in Ganga Reportedly, the ‘Raajneeti’ star chose to visit the banks of the river in the late evening to avoid any kind of unwanted attention.

A source close to the unit revealed, "Kat was planning to visit Haridwar for a long time. But she couldn’t take time off from shooting."“Since she was shooting for Yash Raj Films’ Mere Brother Ki Dulhan in North India, she decided it would be the best time to visit the holy place."Buzz has it, the actress went to one of the ghats for the holy dip and later had the darshan of a deity in a temple.

Dressed in a salwar-kameez with her head and face covered with a dupatta, the actress even took blessings from the priest, who then suggested her to participate in the maha aarti, held in the evening on the ghats by scores of priests together. "She’s a spiritual person and keeps that side of her private. The local pujari suggested she come back to Haridwar in the near future and also participate in a maha aarti to which she readily agreed," the source added.

Katrina, who has earlier been to pious places of worship like Shirdi, the Golden Temple, and the Ajmer Sharif dargah, is of a religious mindset and tries to visit sacred spaces in vicinity, whenever possible.

Imran braves 16 slaps from Katrina
When it comes to acting, Imran Khan sure idealizes mamu, Aamir, which is why the actor braved 16 slaps to get an emotional scene perfect in the film, ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’.

The scene required Katrina to hit him hard on face which she did lightly. Though the actress smacked him a fake one, he insisted on a real, cheek-flushing slap.

The actor even called a spot boy to count the number of slaps. According to him, the ‘logic’ behind it was that on the editing table, the director can choose the best among the various slaps.

Confirming this to a tabloid, Kat was quoted as saying, “Left to me, I’d have done just one fake slap and moved on. But Imran insisted that I do it realistically,” and claimed that this is one of the most authentic screen slap audiences would get to see.

Aishwarya Rai requested people ‘Don’t call me Ash’

Aishwarya1

It seems that Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai is tired of people addressing her by her nickname ‘Ash’ and has requested them to call her by her full name.

"When I joined the industry, people initially used to say they have difficulty in pronouncing my name, so they started calling me ‘Ash’. But now, it has been years and I guess, everyone can pronounce it properly," Aishwarya told reporters.

"So I would appreciate, if you people address me by my name - Aishwarya," she added.

The model-turned-actress walked the ramp for designer Manish Malhotra at the ongoing HDIL-India Couture Week and thanked her husband Abhishek for bringing the name issue in the forefront.

It is believed that Abhishek too had recently requested some journalists to refer to her by her full name.

Kareena Kapoor is emotional and kind-hearted actress in Bollywood

kareena1

Kareena Kapoor is surely an emotional and kind-hearted actress, which was proved recently, when she appeared on a music reality show to promote her upcoming movie Golmaal 3.Now, here, something happened that was totally unexpected for Kareena. Suddenly, the host announced that they have brought a very special person to the show, who has been very closely associated with Bebo’s grandfather Raj Kapoor. He also said that the person has cradled Kareena when she was a little kid. But this renowned technician of yesteryear is now very lonely and in deep financial trouble.

Kareena was in tears on listening this news. In a few moments, a man seated on a wheel chair was taken to the stage while the live audience maintained a total silence. The host paid his homage to the man saying that industry people tend to forget the contribution made by the technicians to the world of cinema.

An overwhelmed Kareena walked up to the frail man with a cheque of Rs 8 lakhs. The old man accepted the cheque with shaky hands. A humbled Kareena, then, bent down to take his blessings. At this point of time, she was shocked to see that the old man rose up from the chair and took off his wig. When the person removed his makeup, it was found to be her co-star comedian Vrajesh Hirjee.

However, Kareena took it sportingly and said that thankfully she did not touch his feet. She broke into a laughter and tears turned into smiles!

I’m trying a lot of new genres and different films: Kangana Ranaut

kangana_ranaut1

Kangana Ranaut unconventional looks and frizzy hair landed her typical roles in Bollywood.

Kangana Ranaut now harbours a dream of donning the director’s hat and already has a script in mind. “I’m quite happy with how my career is moving. But in terms of the future, well, I guess I’d like to direct a movie. I have a script in mind,” Kangana says.

But she refrained from divulging more details. The 23-year-old sailed into Bollywood with the crime-based romantic saga ‘Gangster - A Love Story’ (2006), where director Anurag Basu presented her as a gangster’s girlfriend. She won accolades for her portrayal in the critically and commercially acclaimed film.

After that she chose to play an unconventional role again in ‘Who Lamhe’, which was filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s final goodbye to former girlfriend Parveen Babi. In the film, Kangana brilliantly portrayed the late actress’ madness and despair. In ‘Life In A Metro’, a film about big city people coping with emotional and psychological trauma, Basu presented her as a call centre executive who is in a relationship with her married boss.

With Bhandarkar’s ‘Fashion’, a dark tale about the fashion industry, she hit the bull’s eye. Her stupendous performance where she brings forth the miseries of an ex-ramp queen won her a national award. “It’s been quite a journey. I came to the industry when I was 17, with no idea of what to expect. I was fortunate that ‘Gangster’ was a huge hit. I won many awards and the industry gave me another chance. Otherwise, it’s an industry that’s very unforgiving towards

outsiders. This year I’m trying a lot of new genres and different films. It’s been a lot of hard work but also lots of fun,” says Kangna, who was last seen romancing Hrithik Roshan in ‘Kites’.

Kangana’s kitty is now full of lighthearted films like ‘Double Dhamaal’, ‘No Problem’, and ‘Tanu Weds Manu’. She is also doing ‘Rascals’, ‘Game’ and ‘Tezz’. Her next release is ‘Knock Out’ where she will share screen space with Sanjay Dutt and Irrfan Khan which is releasing October 15.

“‘Knock Out’ is different from anything I’ve done before.” she says. Directed by Mani Shankar, it is a Bollywood adaptation of the Hollywood film ‘Phone Booth’. Kangana will be seen as a scribe in the movie. “There was one point in the film where I actually got a chance to experience the urgency and intensity journalists experience every day,” she said.

Apart from acting, Kangana is also trying her hand at designing. She herself has designed her clothes for the ‘Rascals’ and ‘Tezz’. She may soon launch her clothing line. When asked whether she was looking for love, she says, “With so much work on my plate, I’m happily single for now!”

Shahid Kapoor not interested in World Tour with Priyanka

kaminay1

The buzz was strong that Priyanka Chopra wants Shahid Kapoor to join her for Ranbir Kapoor’s world tour that will start around mid 2011. As she is already confirmed for the event, getting Shahid for it would have meant some time together for the couple.

Since Shahid is a great stage performer because of his dancing skills, organizers did approach him for the show, but the actor can’t avail himself during that time and the reason is work. “Shahid is being repeatedly offered to be a part of the world tour with Ranbir. But due to his Mausam release and Sajid Khan’s film shoot he has declined the offer,” the actor’s spokesperson is quoted to have said.

Ranbir Kapoor’s world tour will travel to as many as sixteen nations including Europe and the Middle-East. The organizers of the show, the Moranis, also confirmed that they have approached Shahid, and are waiting for a nod from the actor. So, it’s too early to say whether Shahid is going to be part of the tour or not. Bollywood queen Katrina Kaif is also part of the tour along with Ranbir’s dad Rishi Kapoor.

‘Audelade’ is a company, known for its high-end accessories, which the brand has introduced in the market. The word ‘Audelade’ stands for ‘beyond’ in French and the company representatives strive towards making products, which are beyond one’s imagination.

Though nothing could be heard from the actress herself on her choice of jewellery from the Audelade collection, the presence of other Bollywood stars, apart from Deepika Padukone, at the launch ceremony, did assure of the fact that Audelade jewellery is here to stay. Sophie Chaudhary, Simone Singh, Shibani Kashyap and Claudia Ciesla also graced the occasion.

Sonam Kapoor has become brand Ambassador for Electrolux

Sonam-Kapoor1

The association of Bollywood actors with brand endorsements are not unheard of and when a brand can rope in as sweet a face as actress Sonam Kapoor’s, the deal is worth it! Though nothing has been confirmed as of yet, it is being said that Electrolux, a popular name in the home appliances industry, is all set to sign up Sonam Kapoor as its next face. Hence Sonam Kapoor will be seen featuring in advertisements for Electrolux ranging from its refrigerators and washing machines to the microwave ovens and air conditioners.

Sonam Kapoor shot to fame with her debut performance in “Saawariya”, which in spite of being a failure at the box office, was enough to give Sonam a foothold in Bollywood. The very sweet and chirpy daughter of Anil Kapoor followed up her “Saawariya” act with films like “Delhi 6”, “I Hate Luv Storys” and the recently released “Aisha”. While her acting career has shown a steady progress, Sonam Kapoor has established a reputation in Bollywood as the most stylish actress of recent times. And according to critics, it is this quality of Sonam that makes her a popular choice for different advertising campaigns.

We are sure that people will like to see more of the fashion diva on the small screen. Official statements from Electrolux about Sonam Kapoor being their brand ambassador for a diverse range of appliances have not yet come but we are keeping our fingers crossed!

Kangna Ranaut is on a perfection spree

kangna ranaut1

Kangna Ranaut is on a perfection spree. And her upcoming film Knock Out will see her not just in the mantle of an actor but also a dancer. The actress will don the avatar of a rock star and head bang to a groovy title track with co-star Sanjay Dutt on the guitar.

But the making of the song was not smooth sailing for Kangna, who was actually running high temperature on the day of the shoot. The producers had almost cancelled the shoot when she requested them otherwise. And Kangna is known to be someone who respects the time and money involved in any project.

Furthermore, her energy was so infectious, that choreographer Ahmed Khan couldn’t stop raving about her. “She is so dedicated, it’s amazing that her energy levels were so high even when she was sick. The song is going to be one of the best numbers in the movie,” he said.

Needless to say, her producers were floored by the gesture. And as they say, all’s well that ends well - the high performance song has turned out to be an eye catcher.

Freida Pinto bored with Lovey-dovely roles

freida-pinto[1]1

Freida Pinto is apparently bored of playing the lovey-dovey roles on screen and is keen to do some action.

“I keep playing the damsel in distress. But I’d like something with a kick now,” she is quoted as saying by Daily Mail online.

The 25-year-old Mumbaikar shot to fame as Latika in Slumdog Millionaire which went on to win eight Oscars and played a similar feminine character in Woody Allen’s romance You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger.

Pinto admitted that she was nervous before shooting with Woody Allen.

“This was my third film, so I was worried I was the only one with a lot to learn. But when I met people like Anthony Hopkins who were feeling pretty nervous, I realised everyone is intimidated to work with a legend,” said Pinto.

Sadly, Pinto hasn’t got very flattering reviews for her performance in the Israeli-Palestinian film Miral.

Sonakshi Sinha stay away from ramp

Sonakshi-Sinha11

She tottered and fell on the ramp at a fashion show in Bangalore last week, but does that mean she shouldn’t be back on the runway. Well, Salman Khan thinks it would be better if Sonakshi Sinha stays away from ramp, at least for some time. The actor is not keen to have her on the ‘Being Human’ fashion show on October 9 which will only feature his co-actresses from various films.

Katrina Kaif, Rani Mukherjee, Priyanka Chopra, Amisha Patel and more are expected to be on the show sashaying down the ramp with Sallu and also Aamir Khan. Though Sonakshi is eager to be part of the show, her parents, like Salman, too feel that ramp can wait. It’s learnt that after the Dabangg success her parents are cautious and think that many people envy Sonakshi’s new-found stardom.

Heeding their sentiment, the starlet will now support the show from the sidelines. She says, “I’ll just be a part of the audience. Let me enjoy the show this time.”

Salman is conducting this charity fashion show with the help of his sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri. Last year it was an all-male show with several B-town hunks sharing the ramp instead of silver screen.

Bipasha completely loves my look: John Abraham

Bipasha1

John Abraham is probably one of the hottest looking hunks in Hindi Film Industry, but when Abbas Tyrewala the director of “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na” cast John for his upcoming bollywood movie “Jhootha Hi Sahi” for a character who is geeky looking guy, everyone started talking about error in cast and media at some point of time even called Abbas Tyrewala someone who has taken the success of Jaane to his head and probably he himself doesn’t know anymore what he is up to.But proving everyone wrong, John and Abbas unveiled the new look of John Abraham, and just like us everybody was astonished as to what Abbas has done with the hunk. John is sporting an old bulky black framed spectacle, Abbas also trimmed his hairs without any spikes, no tight tees this time and a pair of trousers and full sleeves formals is all John have in the movie.

However, this new look has gone down really well with John’s girlfriend Bipasha Basu, we spoke with John and this is what he said - “When Bipasha saw my look in the film, she said that if there is any director who has managed to break me down physically and in terms of a character on screen, it’s Abbas,”. “She (Bipasha) completely loves my look. She said that this is the film I want to watch because it’s very unique, very fresh,” he added.

No time for Marriage says Rakhi Sawant

Item girl Rakhi Sawant, who had her “swayamwar” on television but broke off her engagement, says she has no plans to get married soon because she is too busy with work.
“I have not thought of getting married anytime soon. I have been doing a lot of shows. And now I am doing my own ‘Rakhi Ka Insaaf’. So I am very busy with my work,” Rakhi told reporters via video conference here.
In her new show on NDTV Imagine starting Oct 16, the 31-year-old will be talking to families in a bid to resolve their problems related to dowry, extramarital affairs, divorce and property disputes.
“Whatever cases have come to us, we have thoroughly looked into them and collected evidence before taking them up. I don’t know about the law but I would be making judgment with my heart,” she said.
Rakhi is unfazed although Bollywood action hero Akshay Kumar’s comeback show “Master Chef India” will also kickstart on Star Plus Oct 16, luckily at a different time.
The item girl insists her show is the best. “Mera show sabhi shows ka baap hai (My show is the best of all),” she said.

Rakhi was the star of the reality show “Rakhi Ka Swayamvar”, where she selected Canadian businessman Elesh Parujanwala as her life-partner and teamed up with him in another reality show. “Pati, Patni Aur Woh”. But post “Pati…”, the two parted ways

Priyanka Chopra got top place for kiss

priyanka-chopra11

Desi girl Priyanka Chopra has beaten off competition from fellow Bollywood beauties Aishwarya Rai and Kareena Kapoor to bag the title of the most kissable star.

The 28-year-old actress who became an instant pin-up with her turn in a gold bikini for Dostana topped the survey conducted by men’s magazine Fantasy.

"It was a close run but Priyanka Chopra’s bee-stung lips made her a perfect candidate to top this list," said the magazine about the winning candidate.

Aishwarya who is riding high with the success of Rajinikanth starrer Robot came second while Kareena Kapoor grabbed the third spot.

Bollywood’s favourite Bengali beauty Bipasha Basu came fourth and Katrina Kaif rounded off the top five.

“I wanted all the characters to have different looks in G3:Ajay Devgan

ajay dev1

Director Rohit Shetty has made it sure that Ajay Devgan’s entry in ‘Golmaal 3’ is no less than his impressive and grand entry in the earlier sequels “Golmaal: Fun Unlimited” and “Golmaal Returns”. In “Golmaal: Fun Unlimited”, released in 2006, Ajay made his entry on a sports bike and in the 2008 “Golmaal Returns” he balanced himself on two Hummer cars. In the latest one, Ajay will be seen making an entry balancing himself on two vintage cars driven on two wheels each. The cars will be bright pink and yellow in colour.

Ajay has also sported a brand new rugged look for the film with diamond ear studs, tattoos and cropped hair. Kareena Kapoor sports a tomboy look, Tusshar Kapoor has a tapori look and Arshad Warsi too has experimented with his looks.
“I wanted all the characters to have different looks in G3. For Ajay (who plays Gopal again), I wanted a character that looked different from everything he has done. He has been working hard on his body a lot, so we will have him flaunting his body. He plays a hyper character who loses his temper very quickly, because of which everyone is scared of him. People never know what he will laugh about or get angry about.” Shetty said.

Ajay Devgan’s tattoos have been designed by Aalim’s studio. “Vishwas from my salon designed the tattoo on Ajay’s neck but the concept and choice was Ajay’s. The tattoo is of a Celtic or tribal trishul. No actor in India has got a tattoo made on the neck.” Aalim said.
“We have given Ajay the buzz cut, a more macho, masculine and grungy look than he normally sports. We were waiting for all his film shoots to get over before we could give him this look as otherwise it would have continuity problems. He took a keen interest in the whole look and styling.” Aalim added.

Hisss' movie will be remake in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam

Malaika1

Mallika Sherawat starrer ’ Hisss’ will be dubbed into Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam and released simultaneously with the Hindi original on October 22.
The film, directed by Jennifer Lynch, has Mallika in the role of a serpent woman.

The cast of the film include Irrfan Khan, Divya Dutta and Jeff Doucette. Alexander von Bubenheim scores the music for this supernatural flick. The film was shot simultaneously in English and Hindi. Special effects wizard Robert Kurtzman developed the look of the Snake Woman in the film.

Mooppan Raghavan, tribal leader in Kerala, and over a dozen members of his tribe feature in the film. ’Hisss’ was premiered at this year’s Cannes festival and Mallika Sherawat appeared on the red carper with a 22-feet python around her, in a bid to promote the movie.

Deepika Padukone wants act with Ranbir Kapoor again

deepika-padukone1

Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor ended their relationship and went their separate ways last year, but the actress still wants to work with her ex as she is “very fond” of him. “Ranbir is someone I’m very fond of, I’m really looking forward to working with him because I think we have not worked enough together,” the 24-year-old actress said.
Deepika and Ranbir were last seen together on screen in ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’.

Talking about how she got over her break-up, Deepika said, “I think everyone has a different way of dealing with it. Some people immerse themselves in work. I feel everyone has certain strength within themselves to come out of any situation whether it’s a break up or anything else. So, as long as you believe in yourself, you can challenge anything.”

When asked about what helps her in coming out of painful moments or problems in life, the actress gave credit to her positive thinking. “My support system, like my family and friends, play major role. Apart from that I’m also someone who is very positive. I don’t give up very easily and I think that’s my strongest point,” she said.

So what’s the kind of guy Deepika would like to tie the knot with?
“He needs to be my friend most importantly, a great companion, someone with whom I can spend the rest of my life, someone I can have good conversations with and also someone who understands my silence as well.
“He should accept me with all my flaws. So it’s not just about romance, it’s also about the layers of romance that one feels,” she said.

Katrina back to Shooting after injury

katrina11

Looks like Katrina Kaif has a knack for getting injured! After sustaining injuries on the sets of Tees Maar Khan, she has now been injured while working on YRF’s new film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, when an accidental hit on her nose during the shoot left her bleeding.

“It was a sequence between Imran and Katrina at Pataudi. Imran accidentally hurt her nose with the barrel of the gun,” a source said, adding, “The shooting was stopped and a doctor was called immediately.”

Katrina was fine later as she was joking that whenever she gets injured, the film becomes a huge hit like Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Singh Is King. Going by that, she has two sure shot hits in Tees Maar Khan and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan!

Rajni sir rocks says Aamir

aamir1

I am most keen to see Robot. Rajni sir rocks!” Aamir posted on social networking site Facebook. The movie, which is called Endhiran in Tamil, also features Aishwarya Rai. Apparently made at a budget of Rs 175 crore ($38 million), it is being lapped up by audiences across India.

Actors who have seen the movie are all praise for it, but have pointed to its inordinate length.

Riteish Deshmukh posted on Twitter: “Superstar Rajni! He is a phenomenon. Action in Robot is just what you want to watch as a Rajni fan. Go watch it now - a bit long but worth it.” Actor Tusshar Kapoor opined: “..quite a fun film but a bit long.
Rajni looks young and energetic even at this age. No wonder he’s such a superstar.”
Actress Sameera Reddy went gaga over the 61-year-old actor. “As the No.1 Rajnikanth fan, I am so proud that he has kicked ass at the box office! So proud of you Rajni sir! You are the best!” she tweeted.

SRK in trouble

srk1

Shah Rukh Khan, who’s presently busy shooting for ‘Ra.One’, is under some scrutiny now, as he has been blamed and warned by the direction department to come at the sets on time and not to delay the shoot.

SRK says, “Few more days before I start the ‘Don 2’ journey. Looking forward to just being a star on sets. Being a producer doesn’t allow you that on ‘Ra.One’.”

He adds, “The direction department says I am delaying shoot by coming late on sets. This is a first in 20 years, bas yehi sunna reh gaya tha. I have to be well behaved... maybe I will get paid well too by the producer for a change.”

Come on SRK, one can’t expect a superstar to be late… and since you’re playing a superhero in the film, you should obviously be well before time.

I'm quite happy doing the roles I've been offered," said Emraan

Emraan11

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi, known for his on-screen kisses, says he enjoys essaying grey characters even as he is trying to be a good father in real life. In his new release, "Crook", he will be seen playing a dark role.
"I have always played characters with grey shades and I like it. I like a certain realism to the characters I’m playing. In reality too, I always suspect people who claim they have done only good things in their lives," Emraan, 31,

"I don’t believe people who say they haven’t experienced jealousy, greed, because I feel all these emotions are felt by everyone. We all go through a phase where we feel guilty about doing something. I have made mistakes."
Any plans of doing a goody-two-shoes role?

"I might do something very positive in future, but as of now I’m quite happy doing the roles I’ve been offered," said Emraan who was seen as a baddie in films like "Murder",

"Gangster - A Love Story" and "Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai".
Slated to hit the screens Oct 8, "Crook" has been directed by Mohit Suri and revolves round the issue of racial attacks on Indians in Australia.

"I play a character who is aggressive but at the same time is endearing and funny. He believes in this weird motto that it’s good to be bad because he feels that good guys finish last."
There were reports that he had a rift with producer Mahesh Bhatt over a kissing scene in "Crook".
"I just wanted to trim the duration of the kissing scene a little bit, but Bhatt saab wanted to retain the original length. There was no verbal dispute and no rift at all. It was just a discussion. If a role demands something, I’m all for it," he clarified.
In real life, Emraan is trying to be a doting father - he became a dad early this year and says he loves the experience of fatherhood but is very bad at carrying out the duties of a parent.

"I’m very bad at daddy duties. I try and change diapers but I fail, can’t do that. It’s quite a task to take care of a baby, so I leave it to my wife. Playing is easy, I do that," said a visibly amused Emraan who tied the knot with Parveen Shahani in 2006.
Emraan and Parveen have named their son Ayaan and the actor tries to get back home to spend some quality time with his little boy.

"I try to be on time to meet my son before he sleeps so that he doesn’t start calling me uncle one fine day. I don’t want that after six months or so he doesn’t recognise me. When I go out for promotional tours, he doesn’t recognise me when I come back," he said.

"I just keep shuffling time between my work and my family and my kid. It gets tough but you have to be around. I have become disciplined but I have not really changed as a person. I have not become matured - what usually happens with a lot of people," he said.

Vidya Balan wants to act like Silk Smitha

vidya balan1

The life of the late Silk Smitha is being made into a film. Vidhya Balan is donning her role. Vidhya Balan is practicing the hip shake dance to dance like Silk Smitha for a month’s time. Silk Smitha enticed the audience with her magnetic eyes. In 1980s there was never a film without her.

She had almost acted with every hero including Rajni and Kamal. Silk Smitha who entertained the audience encountered lots of personal life. There were rumors linking her with producers, actors and call sheet managers. One day she committed suicide.

Producer Ektha Kapoor has planned to produce her bio-pic in Hindi and South Indian languages. This film has been tentatively titled Dirty Picture. Many actresses were considered to do the role of Silk Smitha. Finally it was decided that Vidhya Balan would be suitable to do this role. Vidhya is taking training from a South Indian choreographer to dance like Smitha.

Producer Ektha Kapoor while speaking to the media said,” This film is not made keeping in glamour in mind. This film illustrates about the relationship between an actress and a producer. The talented actress Vidhya Balan will be suitable for the role of Silk Smitha. Director Milan Luthria and I have done a lot of research about Silk Smitha. The important factor of this film is dance. After confirming the hero, Vidhya Balan will be taking practice in dance.”

'KBC 4' will start from Oct 11

amitabh-bachchan1

He had no films, no new offers, his company had gone, was in all sorts of legal tangles and financial worries. But, once he started ’Kaun Banega Crorepati’, his problems began to melt.

Amitabh remembers those days at the onset of the fourth season of ’KBC’. He writes on his blog:

"Ten years ago in the year 2000, when the entire world was celebrating the new century, I was celebrating my disastrous fortune. There were no films, no money, no company, a million legal cases against and the tax authorities had put notice of recovery on my home.

"An offer for television changed all that when I agreed to anchor ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ much against all the advice and resentment from friends family and advisors. Taken to the United Kingdom at the Elstree Studios where ‘Millionaire’ was being recorded, I observed the elan and grace of the show and the immense production values that it incorporated. If they could give me this in India I would readily agree. They did, I agreed and KBC took its initial steps. It soon became apparent that it was going to be big and prosperous. I merely sat back and played the game as best it could be played. Before long I was out of the financial crisis and signing on an almost 2 year deal with the channel that was carrying it."

’KBC 4’ will start broadcasting from Oct 11, 2010 at 9 PM on Sony. He says there are some changes in the format of the gameshow. "The money tree has been reduced in the number of questions - from 15 before to 12 now ! You get to the prize 1 crore quicker. Four lifelines, two being the same and two different. One new is the ‘Ask the Expert’ … an expert in any field is in the studio and is willing to help in finalizing an answer. They appear on a LED screen and we can chat to them. Fastest Finger First contestants stay on for the entire week, instead of leaving when the episode is over. And if you play along with the show sitting at home, you get an opportunity to win Rs 100,000, a lakh ! And then the clincher ! Top question prize money after the 12th is the 13th., for 5 crore Rupees !! Thats like, serious life changing money!"

Govinda is grateful to Salman Khan

govinda1

All’s not well between Salman Khan and Govinda. The latter was not part of the ‘Dabangg’ success party where common friends Aamir Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala, Farah Khan, David Dhawan and Subhash Ghai were present.

An insider says, “Things turned sour between them after the IIFA in Sri Lanka. Govinda had gone to Colombo on Salman’s invitation, risking the ban on his film ‘Raavan’ and inviting the wrath of the film’s cast and crew.”

It is learnt that Govinda had been feeling let down by Salman for not giving his daughter Narmada a break in films. Khan has been promoting Sonakshi Sinha and suggesting her name to Nadiadwala and director Shirish Kunder. Govinda’s daughter’s career hasn’t taken off yet. Khan had promised to launch her two years ago.

Govinda is grateful to Sallu for giving him the comeback film ‘Partner’ but now he feels he has paid his dues. So when Khan offered him his next production, Govinda refused the film saying he wasn’t happy with his role.

The snub didn’t go down well with the unforgiving Khan who decided to leave him out of the ‘Dabangg’ guest list.

“I wasn’t invited to the ‘Dabangg’ party,” Govinda confirms. “I am not disappointed. It was a ‘Dabangg’ party after all! Why should I be invited?” When told about the presence of Aamir and Ghai, he says, “They might have been part of the promotions.”

Is he no longer a part of the sequel to ‘Partner’? “David has told me that he’s finalising the script. When that’s ready, I will do it.”

Govinda’s daughter Narmada says, “I am working in a film now and I have no clue about what’s happening to the film I was supposed to do with Salman. I am not upset with Sonakshi. We’ve known each other since childhood and we often meet at parties. The last time I met her was three years ago at Salman’s farmhouse in Panvel. I was never close to Salman but dad was. Rumours of dad and Salman having a rift started during the IIFA when Salman walked the ramp with Sonakshi and not me.”

Director Mohit Suri wants to marry Udita Goswami

udita-goswami1

Director Mohit Suri, who has been dating actress Udita Goswami for some years now, wants to marry her but on one condition - if his latest film on racism in Australia “Crook It’s Good To Be Bad” becomes a success.

“I need money to support the lifestyle Udita is used to. There’s no point in getting married and then thinking of practical matters. So yes, ‘Crook…’ has to be a success. The day it’s declared a hit I’ll propose to her. Then the ball is in her court,” Suri said.
Apparently, Udita has also been praying hard for the film to succeed, but strangely she was absent from the first screening of the film for friends and family Wednesday night.

“The screening was for the cast and crew. Udita will watch the film soon,” Suri said.
Though “Crook…” is about racism against Indian students in Australia, Mohit is wary of the film being branded socio-politically purposeful. Considering the fate of political films like Rahul Dholakia’s “Lamhaa”, one can’t really blame Suri for wanting to get the film away from the political tag.

“Crook…”, starring Emraan Hashmi, Arjan Bajwa and newcomer Neha Sharma, is set to release Oct 8. The film has been produced by Mahesh Bhatt.

‘Bebo’, will be called by the name Daboo in the sequel of Golmaal

Kareena1

Kareena Kapoor , who is often called by her nick name ‘Bebo’, will be called by the name Daboo in the sequel of Golmaal. The lovely actress is excited about her name in Golmaal 3.

Bebo was called Ekta in Golmaal Returns and she was playing the role of a housewife, who was fond of television serials involving gossips. Interestingly, actor Tusshar Kapoor, who is the brother of television queen Ekta Kapoor, played the role of her brother in the film. In third series of Golmaal, Kareena will take up the nick name of her father Randhir Kapoor. Her father’s nick name is Daboo and she insisted to be called up by that name in the film for emotional reasons.

The news was confirmed by Kareena, who was quoted saying that it sounds very funny and yet emotional for her. The actress added that her character’s name is Daboo, who is a total ‘chavanni chaap’. She loves the fun name, which is also perfect for her character. Kareena said that she is very happy to take this name of her father and hopes that her movie works well for her. She is expecting that her papa’s name turns lucky for her but she is not sure whether it will happen.

Rozza Catalano is back

Rozza Catalano1

If you forgot, let us take your memory back in roll and remind you that once there existed a Rozza Catalano who more is known as Saif Ali Khan’s girl friend than her blink and miss career in Bollywood. She did create some ripples with her sizzling item number in ‘Shourya’.

Now, the sexy babe has landed up with another item number, this time for Sunny Deol’s upcoming production Chamku that stars Bobby Deol and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles and is directed by Kabeer Kaushik.

The song to which Rozza gyrates is in many languages, and it features as many as 250 foreign dancers and 500 Indian models. The heat just goes a degree higher in this a peppy fusion of hip-hop and techno choreographed by Ahmed Khan. Well, there is yet another development in her career too. Rozza has bagged in the lead role of an Anglo Indian in Partho Ghosh’s new film Ek Second Zindagi Badal De.

Well, there seems some progress in Rozza’s professional life it seems, though not in her personal one……

Acting is a lot more challenging than Modelling : Deepika

deepika1

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has said acting is a more satisfactory profession than modelling.

"Acting is a lot more challenging. There are a lot more risks, lot more things at stake, and I also think, when a film does well, then there is a lot more sense of satisfaction," Padukone said on Wednesday.

Padukone also talked about her upcoming film projects.

"I have signed three new films, one is a new director called Rohit Dhawan, he is David Dhawan’s son and his film is called Desi Boys with Akshay Kumar and John Abraham. So, that is one film," said Padukone.

"The one after that is Vishal Bharadwaj’s film and the film after that is a film directed by Homi Adajania. He has made a film called Being Cyrus, and that film is being produced by Illuminati Films, the same films that produced Love Aaj Kal, and that is with Imran Khan," she added.

Padukone is now hoping that 2010 ends on a good note for her with Break Ke Baad and Khelenge Hum Jee Jaan Se ready for release in the last week of November and first week of December, respectively.

Break Ke Baad is a romantic comedy starring Padukone and Imran Khan in the lead and has been directed by debutante director Danish Aslam.

On the other hand, Khelenge Hum Jee Jaan Se is a period film opposite Bollywood heartthrob Abhishek Bachchan, which has been directed by Ashutosh Gowariker of the Oscar-nominated Lagaan fame.

I wanted to enjoy my marriage: Eesha Koppikar

Ishaa-Koppika1

Seems marriage is working out very well for Eesha Koppikar who was overwhelmed when her husband Timmy Narang pampered her with a surprise theme party and a luxury car on her birthday.

Talking about her birthday gift, an elated Eesha said, “Though I love cars I am very simple where my tastes are concerned. Timmy decided to pamper me by gifting me a 7 series BMW.
