Actor Madhavan is happy about 3 IDIOTS response

zrtn_00

3 IDIOTS has taken an extremely positive start all over and is all set to be the biggest grosser of the year. While usual suspects like Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan have walked away with top honours, others like Madhavan and Sharman Joshi haven’t been pushovers at all. In a film that required each of the three ’idiots’ to enjoy equal footage right through the narrative, Madhavan has proved that there was actually a role of substance for him. No wonder, he is ecstatic about the response to the film and his act and is happy about 2009 which had 13B beginning it all and 3 IDIOTS taking it to conclusion.

With the kind of response that 3 IDIOTS has fetched, is it now the most special Hindi film ever for you?

Right from the moment I signed the film, it was the most special Bollywood outing for me. I always wanted to work with Raj Kumar Hirani. It wasn’t because he had given two super hits in a row but because I had heard legendary tales about him as a director. I have seldom seen someone who is so unanimously popular. He is a great human being and honestly, I am a sucker for nice people.

It is also being said that Hirani-Madhavan collaboration was pretty much due and that too from your TV days. Is that a fact?

Yes, that was actually the case. In fact when 3 IDIOTS was in an inception phase, I had gone to him and asked if he could please consider me for the project. I was in for a pleasant surprise when he said that he was looking forward to working with me since my TV days. Did you know that originally Munnabhai was planned to be made in a TV series format and I was supposed to work with Raju? This was around 10-12 years back. It couldn’t materialize then but call it a strange twist in the tale; I am now working with him in 3 IDIOTS.

With you being the only actor from down South who has been around in Bollywood for so many years, have you gone on to prove that if an actor is good enough, there isn’t any bias when it comes to the language?

Honestly speaking, my intent has never been to prove that a South Indian actor can make it in Bollywood. Really, those thoughts have never crossed my mind because to do that was never my objective. It’s not that the Hindi speaking audience finds me as an alien. I have been earlier accepted on TV and now I am glad that this has continued with my films too. I have been consistently getting A grade movies which is a great feeling. But no, it isn’t like I have achieved something that I was trying to veer towards. That was never the case.

Big B will be all over B-town New Year with his diverse roles

16

After raking in all the praise for doing something as different as Paa, Amitabh will be all over B-town New Year with his diverse roles.

Big B enthralled audiences with his performance in R. Balki’s Paa. The film was tagged as one of the best films of 2009 and the type of hard work and effort Amitabh put into Paa was truly commendable. Director R Balki had spoken of his lead star, saying, “Whatever Amitji does, he does with such diligence. He went through hours of painstaking make-up without uttering a word, and is truly a through professional when it comes to work. He will go to the extents of perfecting his character, may it be make-up, persona or body language. Surely, they don’t make people like him any more.”

Big B will now be seen in Leena Yadav’s Teen Patti, Ram Gopal Varma’s Rann, Shujit Sarcar’s Shoebite, Pritish Nandy’s The Actor and Chandra Prakash Dwivedi’s Kunal Avadana, among several other announced films. However, the films that will surely release next year are Teen Patti and Rann with, perhaps, Shoebite and Kunal Avadana in the last quarter of 2010. In Teen Patti, which is rumoured to be the remake of the 2008 Hollywood blockbuster 21, Amitabh plays Venkat, a reclusive math genius from India who cracks a theory that could redefine the principles of probability and randomness. Amitabh spoke of his role in the movie, saying, “It is something I haven’t done before.

The meeting with Sir Ben Kingsley was something I truly cherished, and the entire aspect and storyline of the film intrigued me to the hilt.” Apart from Teen Patti, Bachchan will then be seen in Ramu’s Rann that revolves around the media war between news channels to get the news first, and goes behind the scenes in exposing how it’s done. Amitabh plays Vijay Harshwardhan Malik, the founder of the first-ever private news channel in the country - India 24/7. The Harvard-educated Malik is India’s most respected media personality. He is a hardcore upholder of journalistic ethics, and no wonder his channel is battling for survival. The film recently went through a major controversy when Ramu twisted the words of the national anthem for the title track of the movie.

However, his most talked about and highly anticipated next is Dwivedi’s Kunal Avadana, in which Bachchan plays Ashoka, along with Tabu, who plays Tishyarakshita. The film will have Big B and Tabu reuniting after their critically acclaimed Cheeni Kum(2007) in which audiences couldn’t rave more about the chemistry between the two. The film, however, is going to be made on a major budget, due to which the director has already begun to face trouble. However, it’s surely a known fact that Big B has quite an eventful calendar next year, and one can’t wait to see him in action again!

Akshay Kumar is waiting for a new member on its cast

still1

Patiala House, the directorial venture of Nikhil Advani, is waiting for a new member on its cast. The film needed someone to play the younger version of its protagonist Akshay Kumar .

Patiala House said to carry few important flashback scenes involving Rishi Kapoor, (Akshay’s father in the film), and his 17-yr old son. While it is easier to bring in a younger Rishi, the director is keen to rope in someone who matches to Akki’s strong personality.

The director had an idea to cast someone who precisely resembles Akki.

Nikhil wasn’t in favour to launch a talent-hunt for the film, as he felt that it would attract unnecessary attention. So the director instead thought of roping in Akshay’s cousin. However, they would take on the hunting route if things don’t work out. Now, the director is said to be keeping his fingers crossed, hoping to get a positive reply from Akki.

The shooting of ‘Patiala House’ is said to have started quite recently.

Ajay Devgn and Konkona Sen coming together for the first time

9de0453

They are national award winners, fantastic actors and have a respectful eye for a deserving performing art. Then what’s the reason of debate between the wonderful actors who are coming together for the first time in ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?

Guessing…..well our bee reveals it’s their take on mehmans (guest, visitors) that sparks debate between the two fine actors.

Well, they totally agree and enjoy the idea of an Atithi (guest, visitor) coming to your place but Ajay doesn’t approve and is not in favour to keep the excitement so long, he shares, “The idea of having an Atithi come over at your home is really exciting, but it can turn into a nightmare if the Atithi refuses to leave.”

The bong babe Konkona somewhat differs, she says, “Atithi (guest, visitors) come as a breath of fresh air and spread cheer, having lived alone in Mumbai for a long time, I’ve always enjoyed the company of an Atithi.”

Well, we hope that the two might continue the debate for a long time and hopefully reach to an agreement and by the time we wait and decide who is actually right when the Warner Bros. and Wide Frame Films picture ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?’ releases on 26th February 2010 next year.

The heart warming fun film is helmed by Ashwni Dhir, and it stars Ajay Devgn, Konkona Sen Sharma and Paresh Rawal in the main lead.
